The Check print for fall

Cloudy skies and cooler temperatures make me think about fall and new trend pieces for the next season. The seemingly endless summer is cooling off and it’s just the right time to look at the trends for Autumn 2018, especially when it comes to cosy and warm jackets and coats. These are the most important pieces for colder days ahead so let’s have a closer look.

Checks everywhere!

Trends come and go, but there are a few designs you can’t go wrong with: checked pattern and the classic trench coat of course! The Evergreen(s) of all the trends and styles and again very present on the fall/winter runways this year. I already talked about the trench style for the upcoming season in my last outfit report so this blogpost here will all be about the checks and ways to wear and combine them!

This season it’s all about checked patterns (again) in all kind of styles and versions… from small to large checks, glencheck, normal fits or oversized styles, neutral shades or colorful pieces, the checked pattern is an all time classic. And not only when it comes to jackets or coats, this print’s also seen on suits, skirts and even boots.
And what to wear with checked patterns? Cosy and comfy knits, big cardigans underneath for a nice layer or denim jeans and skirts are a nice combination for sure. Even different checked coats layered up is a thing this season! Motto of the season: the more the better!

I like this kind of pattern and style especially for Autumn and I think I will go for an oversized fit with mid or maxi length coat. I found a few really nice and affordable ones at Esprit yesterday, which I really adore. Also checked blazers are a thing again so be sure to check them out!
Heritage patterns definitely make a comeback and the perfect piece to invest right now is a big wool coat with checks for fall/winter 2018.
